Anti-Wrinkle treatment

Wind back the clock on ageing

Anti-wrinkle injections, commonly known as Botox© have become an all-star treatment, with more and more women and men of all age groups opting to preventively and correctively keep their skin smooth, clear and reverse the telltale signs of ageing such as wrinkles and skin laxity.

How does it work?

Botulinum Toxin Type A (otherwise referred to generically as Botox©, though many other brands are available) is a safe and widely administered neurotoxin, which works at the junction between the muscles and the nerve impulses from the central nervous system to inhibit muscle movement, consequently preventing the movement of certain facial muscles responsible for the formation of wrinkles. If started early enough, this prevents the formation of static wrinkles in the upper layers of the dermis, and in all cases prevents the dynamic wrinkles created by movement (e.g. lines on the forehead when frowning, crows feet around the eyes when squinting) etc.

Treatments last between 3 and 9 months depending on the individual patient and the approach of the practitioner when administering the toxin. Another benefit of anti-wrinkle injections is the ability to manipulate the dominance of certain muscles when the face is at rest, which can create signature results such as the Brow Lift or the “Lip Flip”. Lastly there are even lesser known benefits such as improvement to skin texture, reducing signs of acne and inhibiting excess oil production, as well as correcting facial asymmetry and producing better photographs with greater reliability.
