Microneedling
Naturally healthier looking, blemish-free skin
Microneedling is a highly effective treatment sometimes referred to as collagen induction therapy, or otherwise by the well-known branded term Dermapen©, though many brands are available. Whilst at-home rollers can be used for the same purposes, microneedling is far more effective, and when used in conjunction with medical grade skincare ingredients administered by a professional the results cannot be compared between the two. Ideal results are achieved after multiple sessions and your Aesthetician will be able to advise your optimal treatment plan tailored to you.
The benefits of microneedling include noticeable improvements to the appearance of: acne scarring, keloid scars/shallow scars resulting from injury, fine lines, wrinkles or pigmentation caused by aging, open or blocked pores and the texture and overall tone of your skin. You’ll likely notice brighter, firmer skin, too.
How does it work?
Microneedling works by repeatedly pricking the dermis at high frequency with small needles, in order to stimulate collagen production and cell renewal using the body’s natural repair mechanisms. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. You’ll experience minor redness and irritation for a few days after the procedure, however most clients start to report improvement straight away after a single treatment, particularly to the appearance of scars or fine lines and wrinkles. A course of 5 treatments, usually 3 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results depending on the initial concerns and their severity.
The procedure takes less than an hour and is minimally invasive, with most clients reporting only mild discomfort during the treatment. The treatment can also be combined with other therapies such as chemical peels and dermaplaning for additional benefits - speak to your Aesthetician to create a plan tailored to you for maximum results.
